Hi. I'm Dr. Colleen.
I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.
I began my journey at Wilfrid Laurier University - where I followed my passion for understanding the human body and mind by completing an Honours Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. Hungry to learn more, I matriculated to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2007 where I completed 4 years training as a Naturopathic Doctor. My time at CCNM helped me appreciate and internalize the core tenets of naturopathic medicine: first do no harm, doctor as teaching, prevention and most importantly treat the whole person as well as treat the underlying cause(s). It is these principles that inform my approach to patient care.
In addition to my core training as a Naturopathic Doctor, I have taken a keen interest in mind-body medicine, helping patients explore the mental/emotional roots to their symptoms, while using a trauma-informed approach. I incorporate my training in psychology as well as cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, dialectical behavioural therapy techniques as well as internal family systems (IFS) to help patients address the psycho-emotional aspects of their health.
Through my work with patients, I seek to help them understand their bodies better, to uncover the relevant underlying pieces to their health puzzle - be they nutritional, hormonal, toxic exposure, or trauma. It is through this understanding, I hope to empower patients to make the necessary changes to achieve optimal health.
